MANILA - Hotter days are expected to prevail in most parts of the country in the next few days due to the prevailing easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysicsl amd Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Thursday.
Weather Forecaster Gener Quitlong said the hot and humid weather in the country may prevail until third week of May, when the first rains for the rainy season are expected to fall.
He added that warm weather is expected to persist in Mindanao in the coming days as the low pressure area (LPA) near the area has moved further away from the Philippine territory.
As of Wednesday, Quitlong said the weather disturbance could not be seen anymore on the agency’s numerical weather models since it is already too far from the Philippine area of responsibility.
He said the trough or the extended clouds of the LPA would not affect Mindanao anymore.
Just like the rest of the country, Quitlong said that Mindanao will have sunny to partly cloudy skies with possible isolated rainshowers in the afternoon or evening due to localized thunderstorms until Friday.
He said the presence of the easterlies or “warm” winds from the east would continue to bring hot weather in the country for the next two days.
In its sdvisory, Pagasa said that the whole country will have partly cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
Pagasa also said that moderate to occasionally strong winds blowing from the east to southeast will prevail over Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to occasionally rough.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast with slight to moderate seas.
