Imelda-visits-GloriaMANILA – Former First Lady and incumbent Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Marcos described as “inhumane” the incarceration of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, who is under hospital arrest for alleged plunder of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) funds.
Marcos arrived late Wednesday afternoon at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) to visit Arroyo, a colleague at the House of Representatives.
“I am happy to see her [and] that she’s doing well, but I’m very sad. So many prohibitions. So unfair, so unjust,” the wife of the late dictator said.
She said the Marcoses and Macapagals have had a long history.
“[Ferdinand Marcos] was minority leader, then [Diosdado Macapagal] was majority floor leader. Nagkasama sila ng matagal.”
Imelda-visits-Gloria.2Arroyo has received a string of well-wishers at the VMMC, where she is under hospital arrest. She is suffering from cervical spondylosis (chronic wear of the spine).
Besides Marcos, former Presidents Joseph Estrada and Fidel Ramos, and former Vice President Noli de Castro have also visited Arroyo at the VMMC.
Others who have visited her the past few months include Jesus is Lord leader Eddie Villanueva, former AFP chief of intelligence service Victor Corpus, Lingayen Dagupan Archbishop Emeritus Oscar Cruz, and Lipa City Archbishop Ramon Arguelles.
